Do you want to hear some really weird music? Well here you go!

That was Caravan Palace, a French Electroswing band that goes completely out of my comfort zone as far as music is concerned. At first I didn't like it, but it quickly grew on me. Somehow. Thanks to Brad Biggs, I can now say that this is my new guilty pleasure band. It's catchy, it's fun to dance to (not that I can dance, though), and it is SWING. AND ELECTRONIC! Crazy violins, double basses, electronic beats, and the occasional scat, this band definitely strays from the norm. I will admit that most of their songs sound the same, but it is something that is just plain fun to jam out to every once in a while.
Anyways, Wednesday was my last day at TC3 and everyone was disappointed to see me go, with prayers from everyone to go around, as well as Cody Moral (same kid that threw pizzas at my car from Brad's car) screaming out the car window as he and Brad were driving away. We had one final jam with me on drums and then after many hugs, goodbyes, and goodlucks, I left TC3 for good.
Today was my last day at work, and go figure that I had to show up an hour early to help pour concrete. Rocky (the boss's assistant) made a comment that I should "go into concrete instead. F*** playing the piano. I'm going to do concrete." For those of you who don't know Rocky (which is probably none of you), it was OBVIOUSLY a joke, basically saying that I shouldn't get stuck into doing manual labor all my life like digging ditches or pouring concrete. (Also, you have to watch the sailor's mouth from anyone who works at a marina.) He also had to add in that he would be coming with me to Boston and attending my school, Rodney Dangerfield style. I will miss everyone at Riverwatch, but I can easily say that I won't miss the work at all.
After visiting Terry at Vintage Guitar Closet, I did manage to go to the beach and go surfing with Brad one last time before move away. The surf report lied to me and said that there would be 0-1 foot waves, while there were really 3-4 foot waves. Not too much for surfing, but enough to ride a few waves. We couldn't stay too long because the sky was black with storm clouds and birds were diving for bait fish in the water (and bait fish mean that sharks could be nearby), and we figured it was best to leave. We jammed out to Caravan Palace on the way to and from the beach, and that's how I first heard and grew attached to the band. My last restaurant meal before I leave was at Anna's. I had to go with a classic and get the student special with a cinnamon knot, and it was delicious as always. There will be no Anna's pizza in Boston, so that is a bummer, but the endless opportunities up there should make up for that.
I also was able to Skype with the most amazing and beautiful girl in the entire universe, Courtney!!! :)

Now I am all packed with everything I could possibly need for college (which really isn't that much to be honest). I leave tomorrow afternoon, and move-in starts on Sunday! This is all so nerve-racking for me. Everyone I know has already started school and I think that I am literally the last person to go. Despite all that, I think I am ready for Boston.
One final note
To Cisco, I want my carne asada that you promised me. Don't think I forgot!
Wills, the Weiksnars will certainly miss you, but we know you will do great! Have a safe trip, a great first weekend with the family, an awesome semester and remember, we (the lunch club) have dibs at Thanksgiving after we (the worship team) have dibs for the piano playing! Learn something!
ReplyDeleteDude, love the Caravan Palace! Good stuff! Way to get into something new. And I guarantee that the food you will have in Boston will will beat most anything you can find in Palm City.
ReplyDeletethinking of you and glad you like your place, take care and enjoy!! grandma
